Anime Fantasy: RE Detailed Unit Analysis

Anime Fantasy RE Tier List (2025) Best Units List

Meta Tier Deep Dive

ShadowMonarch (Abyss)

This absolute beast has been dominating the meta since release, and for good reason. With excellent damage output and tankiness that puts most units to shame, ShadowMonarch (Abyss) is your go-to unit for basically everything. The unique mechanic where normal damage scales with Critical Damage makes him incredibly powerful when paired with the right traits. Yeah, he's expensive to place and upgrade, but trust me – every gem spent is worth it. I've cleared countless impossible stages with this unit carrying my entire team.

BloodQueen (Vampire)

If you're looking for the ultimate crowd control unit, BloodQueen is your answer. Her full AoE attacks combined with bleed effects absolutely demolish enemy waves. What really sets her apart is that damage boost on placement – it's like getting a free upgrade right off the bat. As a Hill type, she can target those annoying flying enemies that slip past your ground units. The investment is steep, but once you max her out, she becomes an unstoppable force that trivializes most content.

Zid (GrandAtomic)

Here's where things get spicy – Zid (GrandAtomic) is hands down the best value Secret unit in the game. That map-wide special ability? It's basically a delete button for entire waves. What shocked me most was how cheap he is to upgrade compared to other Secret units. The evolution from Zid (Atomic) is a pain to get, but once you have him, your infinite mode runs become significantly easier. His insane range means you can place him almost anywhere and still get value.

Naguma (Prime)

Pure, unadulterated DPS – that's what Naguma brings to the table. This unit has carried me through every single game mode, from story to infinite to raids. The bleed effect isn't just for show; it adds up to massive damage over time. While his range isn't the best, his raw damage output more than makes up for it. If you see him on the Special Banner rate-up, that's your cue to dump all your gems.

Bera (Fury)

Imagine a unit with perfect stats across the board – that's Bera. Excellent damage? Check. Insane range? Check. Tanky as hell? Double check. The only downside is the cost, but when you're getting a unit that can essentially solo carry late-game content, it's a worthwhile investment. I've seen Bera units with good traits literally carry entire teams through content they had no business clearing.

Zid (Shadow)

The cheapest full AoE unit that doesn't suck – that's a rare combination in Anime Fantasy: RE. Zid (Shadow)'s active skill is basically a panic button that clears the entire map. While his attack speed is slightly slower than ideal, the sheer coverage and damage make up for it. Perfect for players who want meta performance without breaking the bank.

Gane (???)

Single-target DPS has never looked so good. Gane (???) is the unit you bring when you need something dead, fast. His evolution requirements are annoying (you need base Gane first), but the payoff is incredible. In boss-heavy stages or when dealing with tanky enemies, Gane outperforms even some Meta tier units. Just be prepared for the upgrade costs – quality comes at a price.

Ishar (Celestial)

The hybrid attack type alone makes Ishar special, but combine that with insane damage and range? You've got a winner. Being able to hit both ground and air units with equal effectiveness is huge in certain stages. The upgrade costs will make your wallet cry, but Ishar is one of those units that fundamentally changes how you approach team building.

Chein (Sparkle)

That 40% passive crit rate is no joke – Chein (Sparkle) dishes out consistent damage that rivals units twice her cost. The evolution from Chein (Light) is straightforward, and the power spike is immediately noticeable. She's become my go-to DPS unit when I need reliable damage without the RNG of hoping for good attack patterns.

ShadowMonarch (Awake)

The forbidden fruit of Anime Fantasy: RE – no longer obtainable but still wreaking havoc in PvP. If you have this unit, congratulations, you own a piece of history. The single-target DPS is unmatched, making it perfect for taking down priority targets. For those who missed out, Naguma (Prime) is your closest alternative.

Smeth (String)

Here's an interesting one – Smeth isn't just about raw damage. That 50% damage bonus against high HP enemies makes him invaluable in certain raid content. Plus, he boosts other units' damage, creating synergies that can turn good teams into great ones. The reduced attack speed on placement is annoying, but proper positioning negates this weakness.

Shina (Sniper)

The best Mythic hybrid unit, period. Shina combines excellent damage with the versatility of hybrid attacks, all while maintaining incredible range. The slow attack speed might seem like a dealbreaker, but when each shot can clear half the screen, speed becomes less important. She's especially valuable in stages with mixed ground and air enemies.

S-Tier Excellence

Yuto

The infinite mode specialist that gets stronger with every attack. Yuto's unique scaling mechanic means that in long battles, he becomes an absolute monster. Starting off relatively weak, by wave 50+ he's outputting damage that rivals Meta tier units. The key is positioning him early and protecting him. Relatively cheap upgrades make him accessible to F2P players too.

Mahoragi

This unit comes with a unique summoning mechanic – you need a maxed Megumo (Divine) to even place him. It sounds annoying, but the payoff is worth it. Mahoragi brings excellent all-around stats and, surprisingly for a Secret unit, doesn't cost a fortune to upgrade. He's become a staple in my raid teams.

Igres (Crimson)

The burn meta is real, and Igres leads the charge. Full AoE attacks combined with burn damage create a deadly combination that melts through waves. Yes, his HP is low, but when everything dies before reaching him, does it matter? Just make sure to protect him with tankier units up front.

Brulo (Legendary)

Sometimes you just need raw AoE damage, and Brulo delivers in spades. Excellent damage and range make him a powerhouse, though the long attack intervals can be frustrating. The key is pairing him with faster units to cover the gaps between his attacks. Expensive to upgrade but worth every gem.

Megumo (Divine)

Don't let the short range fool you – Megumo (Divine) is a beast. That double damage below 50% HP isn't just a gimmick; it's a game-changer in clutch situations. Plus, being able to summon Mahoragi adds extra value. Not too expensive to upgrade either, making him great for mid-game progression.

Sukuno (Shrine)

The reliable workhorse of S-tier. Sukuno doesn't have flashy mechanics or game-breaking abilities, but what he does have is consistency. Good damage, decent HP, and full AoE attacks make him perfect for general content. He starts falling off in super late game, but until then, he's solid gold.

Persia

Anniversary exclusive units are usually just collector's items, but Persia breaks that mold. Very good damage combined with full AoE attacks makes her a legitimate meta choice. The stats are well-rounded, and she doesn't require any special setup to be effective. If you managed to grab her during the event, she's definitely worth the investment.

Chein (Light)

Glass cannon personified – Chein (Light) trades durability for insane DPS. In the right hands (and with proper protection), she can output damage that rivals units two tiers above her. The key is positioning and knowing when to deploy her. Not recommended for beginners, but experienced players will love her potential.

DragonLord (Fear)

Sometimes you need a unit that just works, and DragonLord fits that bill perfectly. Very good damage, solid HP, and great range make him incredibly versatile. The placement and upgrade costs are painful, but you're essentially buying reliability. He won't carry you like Meta tier units, but he'll never let you down either.

Sasuka (Susanoo)

Excellent DPS in a user-friendly package – that's Sasuka. He doesn't require complex setups or specific team compositions to shine. Just place him down, upgrade him, and watch him go to work. The fire element also gives him good coverage in element-restricted content.

Gilgamash (Conqueror)

Range is king in tower defense, and Gilgamash has it in spades. That excellent range allows for flexible positioning that other units can't match. The damage and HP are solid too, making him a well-rounded choice. Just be prepared for the investment – quality costs gems.

A-Tier Reliability

Alphe (Commander)

The synergy king – Alphe gets significantly stronger when paired with Zid or Smeth. Even without them, he's a solid unit with good damage and range. What really sells him is the relatively cheap upgrade cost. Perfect for players building their first meta team.

Artora (Swear)

Pure damage in a Mythic package. Artora doesn't have fancy mechanics or special synergies – she just hits hard. The low HP can be problematic, but proper positioning solves most issues. A great pull for players who need raw DPS without breaking the bank.

Yuki (GGO)

Ruby Castle exclusive means she's harder to get, but the stats speak for themselves. Excellent damage and HP with very good range creates a unit that excels in almost any situation. The investment is steep, but if you're running Ruby Castle anyway, might as well grab her.

Osaraka (Saw)

Budget players, rejoice! Osaraka proves that you don't need to whale to get good DPS. Very good damage and HP at a fraction of the cost of similar units. He's become my go-to recommendation for new players asking where to spend their first gems.

Delty (Claw)

The fast enemy counter – Delty's bonus damage against speedy foes fills a specific niche. Even without the bonus, decent stats and cheap costs make him viable. Gets an additional boost when paired with Zid or Smeth, creating interesting team compositions.

RedMagician (Fire)

Burn support that actually does damage – that's rare. RedMagician brings decent DPS while applying burn to help your main carries. The low HP is concerning, but as a backline unit, it rarely matters. Great addition to any burn-focused team.

Saki (Assassin)

Balanced stats across the board make Saki a jack-of-all-trades. She won't blow your mind with any particular aspect, but she also doesn't have glaring weaknesses. Perfect for filling out your team when you need solid, reliable damage.

Hino

BattlePass exclusive limits availability, but if you have him, he's worth using. Good early game carry with stats that remain relevant into mid-game. The shorter range requires careful positioning, but the damage output justifies the effort.

Itadoki (Curse)

That excellent range is the main selling point here. Itadoki can cover huge portions of the map, making him valuable in spread-out stages. Decent damage and HP round out a solid package. Not flashy, but effective.

Yono (Spirit)

Another budget-friendly option that doesn't sacrifice quality. Good stats across the board with cheap placement and upgrade costs. Perfect for F2P players or anyone saving gems for Meta tier units.

Asto (Devil)

The evolution is straightforward, and the result is a very good Mythic DPS unit. Asto brings solid damage and durability without any major weaknesses. He won't carry your team solo, but he's an excellent supporting damage dealer.

B-Tier Situational Picks

Darling

The weakest Secret unit is still a Secret unit. Darling's line AoE can be useful in specific lane-heavy maps, and the damage is respectable. Just don't expect Meta tier performance from her. More of a collector's piece than a competitive unit.

Toda (Brother)

That scaling damage makes Toda interesting for infinite modes. Starting weak but gaining 2% damage per wave adds up over time. The short range is limiting, but in the right game modes, he can surprise you.

Byaki (Slash)

Full AoE on a budget – that's Byaki's selling point. The long cooldowns hurt his overall DPS, but when you need coverage and can't afford better options, he gets the job done. Just don't expect miracles.

Toshira (Blizzard)

Cheapest unit to fully upgrade in the game, making him perfect for new players. The stats are decent for the cost, though the short range limits placement options. Great stepping stone unit.

March (Guard)

Definition of average – March does everything okay but nothing great. Balanced stats and reasonable costs make him usable, but you'll want to replace him as soon as possible.

Kirita (Dual)

Another middle-of-the-road Mythic that struggles to justify his existence. Decent stats don't make up for the lack of any standout features. Only use if you have nothing better.

Rine

Discord event exclusive adds rarity value, but performance-wise, he's just okay. Good early game with cheap upgrades, but falls off hard later. More for collectors than competitors.

GodOfSky (Thunder)

Hybrid attacks are always valuable, but the expensive upgrades hurt. Very good damage and range partially make up for it, but there are better options available. Use him if you need hybrid coverage and have gems to spare.

FireFist (Emperor)

Burn application with decent stats – nothing more, nothing less. He fills the burn support role adequately but won't impress. Useful in burn-focused teams as a secondary damage dealer.

Elize (Flame)

Another burn unit that starts strong but falls off late game. The small AoE and low HP become major liabilities as enemies get stronger. Use her early, replace her later.

C-Tier Budget Warriors

Ichiga (Dusk)

Decent stats let down by expensive upgrade costs. When you're paying premium prices, you expect premium performance, and Ichiga doesn't deliver. Only use if you really like the character.

Beek (Beast)

Good damage is about all Beek has going for him. Limited utility and average other stats make him hard to recommend. There are better Claw units available.

Aka (Awaken)

Burn application can't save the low HP problem. Aka dies to a stiff breeze in later stages, making investment risky. Only viable in early game where enemies hit softer.

Naga

BattlePass exclusive that's barely worth the effort. Balanced stats sound good on paper but translate to mediocrity in practice. Skip unless you're a completionist.

Asuno (Starlight)

Another victim of being average in a game full of exceptional units. Decent range can't make up for lackluster performance everywhere else. Hard pass.

Natsa (Dragon)

How the mighty have fallen – dragon units should be powerful, but Natsa missed the memo. Below average everything makes him one of the worst Mythics. Don't waste your gems.

Boe

Weekly Champion reward that's only useful for beginners. Cheap upgrades are nice, but the low stats mean you'll replace him quickly. Free unit for a reason.

Elize (Blood)

The worst of the Elize variants. Small AoE and low stats make her struggle even in early game. The bleed effect isn't enough to save her. Skip entirely.

Diana

BattlePass unit that becomes literally useless in late game. Cheap to upgrade means nothing when the stats can't keep up. Only for collection purposes.

D-Tier - The Benchwarmer

Yamo (Dark)

That range... or lack thereof. Yamo needs to practically hug enemies to hit them. Combined with expensive upgrades, he's a recipe for disappointment. Shadow Event banner has better options.

Elize (Valkyrie)

Competing for worst Mythic in the game. Low damage, low HP, mediocre everything else. Even her attack animations are disappointing. Hard skip.

Klay (Master)

Master of nothing – Klay brings nothing unique or valuable to your team. Below average stats across the board make him fodder tier. Don't even use him as evolution material.

Naruta (Sage)

The definition of "mid" taken to an insulting extreme. Everything about this unit screams mediocrity. Save your gems for literally any other unit.

Aiza

Expensive to upgrade with nothing to show for it. Low damage makes him useless as a DPS, and he has no utility to fall back on. Worst Electric unit by far.

Kizzua (Lighting)

How did this even get released? Lowest damage among Mythics with expensive upgrades. The decent attack speed can't save this disaster. Worst Mythic unit, hands down.

Shiki (Shadow)

Fast attacks mean nothing when each hit does baby damage. Shortest range among all units makes positioning a nightmare. Just bad overall – even his design is uninspired.

Ulqiorre (Devil)

The absolute worst unit in Anime Fantasy: RE. Extremely slow attacks with low damage create a unit that contributes nothing. Hill type is wasted on stats this bad. If you pull him, my condolences.

Support Units - The Unsung Heroes

Mie (Origin)

The freeze meta wouldn't exist without Mie. Full AoE attacks that freeze create incredible crowd control. Very expensive to upgrade, but the utility is unmatched. Essential for high-level content.

Goju (Strongest)

Seven seconds of frozen enemies – enough said. That ability alone makes him S-tier support. Decent stats mean he's not dead weight between freezes. Must-have for difficult content.

IceQueen (Empire's Strongest)

Freeze on every attack with amazing stats? Sign me up. IceQueen brings DPS that rivals main damage dealers while providing top-tier crowd control. The upgrade costs hurt, but she's worth every gem.

Bulme

The farming meta revolves around Bulme. No combat capabilities, but the resource generation is unmatched. Essential for progression – get her ASAP.

BlackHair (Emperor)

Reliable slow with decent stats makes BlackHair (Emperor) a solid support choice. Not flashy, but the utility is undeniable. Great for players who can't afford the freeze units yet.

BlackHair

The budget version – only useful very early on. Minimal slow effect with terrible stats. Replace as soon as possible.

Shi (Assassin)

Decent HP allows Shi to work as a tank/support hybrid. The slow effect after upgrade 3 is nice, but takes too long to come online. Mid-tier at best.

Mika

Good farming unit that's outclassed by Bulme. If you don't have Bulme yet, Mika is a decent substitute. Otherwise, skip.

Bartender

Your first farming unit – nothing more. Use until you get better options, then retire him. At least he's free.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the best units to reroll for in Anime Fantasy: RE?

When starting fresh, I always recommend rerolling for Meta or S-tier units. Currently, the best units in Anime Fantasy: RE are BloodQueen (Vampire), Ishar (Celestial), ShadowMonarch (Abyss), Bera (Fury), Zid (Shadow), Naguma (Prime), Gane (???), Chein (Sparkle), ShadowMonarch (Awake), and Shina (Sniper). If you can grab any of these during your initial pulls, you're set for the entire game.

Which units should I prioritize on the Special Banner?

If they are on the rate-up, Smeth, Gane (???), Igres, Shina, Brulo, Sukuno, and Chein are the best to spend your Gems on. The Special Banner rotates every hour, so patience pays off. Wait for S or A-tier mythics to appear in the middle spot for that sweet 50% rate-up.

Can all units be evolved in Anime Fantasy: RE?

No, only specific Units can be evolved in Anime Fantasy: RE. About half of the 80+ units have evolutions available. Always check the evolution requirements before investing heavily in a unit – some require rare materials or specific conditions that might not be worth the effort.

What's the difference between Secret, Mythic, and other rarities?

Secret units are the rarest and generally most powerful, but they're incredibly hard to obtain. Mythic units are more common but still pack serious punch. The Special Banner features units that rotate every hour. The middle Unit on it has a 50% rate-up, while the Units on the side have a 20% rate-up. Legendary and below are good for early game but quickly get outclassed.

How important are elements in team building?

Elements become crucial in Weekly Tournaments where certain types get damage buffs. This one should make it easier for you to decide which units to bring into content like Weekly Tournaments that buff the damage of certain elements. I always keep at least two strong units of each element for flexibility.

Should I focus on single-target or AoE units?

Range and AoE type and size — We gave a slight advantage to full AoE Units because they are optimal for dealing with a lot of enemies at once In most content, AoE units provide better value. However, single-target specialists like Gane (???) and ShadowMonarch (Awake) are essential for boss stages and priority targets.

What makes Hill and Hybrid units special?

Hill Units can target flying enemies, which are rare. However, not being able to target them makes it impossible to complete certain stages. Hybrid units can attack both ground and air, making them incredibly versatile. Always have at least one Hill or Hybrid unit in your team for those flying enemy stages.

How do I farm evolution materials efficiently?

You can get colored Shards from Challenges and Luxxy's Shop. Common materials, such as MarineCaps, can be farmed in Story stages. Most rare materials can be crafted at the Craft NPC. Daily challenges and event shops are your best bet for consistent material farming.

Is it worth upgrading lower-tier units?

For early game progression, absolutely. B and C-tier units can carry you through story mode while you save gems for better options. Just don't over-invest – stop at upgrade level 3-4 and save resources for when you pull Meta or S-tier units.

What's the best way to get new units as a F2P player?

The main way of getting new units in Anime Fantasy: RE is summoning them on one of the Banners available in the Summon menu. Focus on Special Banner during rate-ups, complete all events for exclusive units, and don't forget about raids which can drop Secret units. Patience and resource management are key for F2P success.
